This is not a very good update :(
Do you know how hard it is to make hamburgers (one of my FAVORITE foods) for your whole family and make yourself chicken (which is yummy, but when you have had it for a month for supper, it starts to get old! Did I mention I think I am growing feathers?) & veggies. It is VERY hard to do!
I have walked (and even did some jogging) 1 hour every evening for the last two weeks. I missed 2 nights, and one of those 2 missed walks was because I went to Zumba so I still got my exercise. With this being said I am sad to admit I have hit a plateau. I CANNOT get past 152 lbs. I have not seen the 140's for 8 years and apparently I am not going to see them again for another 8 years. I started out at 164 lbs so I should be happy with my weight loss but I am nowhere near my goal! I don't know what else to do aside from starving myself. (Don't worry, that could never happen, I love food too much!)
I have been allowing myself to "cheat" on the weekends but I think I am going to put an end to that until I am at (or close) to my goal weight! I have 22 lbs to go but 17 would make me happy. Trying to lose weight is so hard to do when you love food as much as I do! I am eating SO much better than I was before! This is what my "menu" looks like this:
Breakfast
2 scrambled eggs (or 4 eggwhites) with mushrooms, green onion, jalapeno peppers and salsa
green tea
apple/orange/pear or grapes
Lunch
Salad (baby spinach, grape tomatoes, pear, cucumber, green onions, a few craisins & fat free ranch)
tuna or sardines
green tea
Supper
Chicken (SOMETIMES fish)
Tons of veggies (asparagus, eggplant, brussel sprouts, turnip, carrot, mixed frozen veggies for example)
green tea
I also make a batch of chicken veggie soup from my 17 day diet book every once in a while and will have that to change up a lunch or supper. I have yogurt or fruit for an afternoon snack. I really don't know what else to do and why I have plateaued? Is anyone else doing the 17 day diet and having any trouble?? Or does anybody have any tips for me? Feel free to leave me a comment :)

so dr oz had a show on what to do when you hit a platteau to get loosing again and the first one was a type of grain i think, it was something he mixed with yogurt...... but the second one they said to eat your water, lol meaning to eat water rich fruit mellons ect..... not sute what your diet allows but he said it has been proven that people whos diet is high in water based fruit lose like 30% more weight...
don't forget that sometime as you grow older your body physically can't be where it was when you were younger. It might be a bit of a plateau but it also might be just a new reality...and that's ok! Smile...you have 3 kids out of that body of yours and a hubby who loves you. Embrace you're 152lbs self and celebrate the loss that you already have had. Hope that helps :) Weight struggles aren't fun...i'm in the same boat so I feel you're pain.
Melissa, the thing is the melons and stuff are so high in sugar. Maybe I will make up a melon diet lol I could eat it EVERY day!
Lise, I completely agree with you HOWEVER, I know this is not a healthy weight for me. My ideal body weight for my height would be 130 lb (I would gladly embrace 135!) I refuse to believe this is a new reality lol (I am praying with all that I am that it isn't!!) I think it is just harder to lose as we get older. I have WAY less energy than I did 10 yrs ago...then again I didn't have kids then either LOL
Thanks girls <3
How much water are you drinking? A friend of mine hit a plateau and once she started adding more water her weight started coming down again. If you're doing the '8 glasses a day' then that likely isn't an issue. There's an active message board for the 17 day Diet on The Doctors TV website...they could prob offer suggestions and great place to go for recipes, support etc as they're all doing it too
You know, I haven't been doing great on the water! I was drinking 64 ozs a day+ but I am now MAYBE drinking 32! I will have to up it! I look on the Dr's website for recipes but I guess I will have to explore the other forums! Thanks Jenn! (Even though I don't know which Jenn you are LOL)
Kristy you are doing awesome!! Remember your water and try going back to cycle one. Weekend cheats are only meant for the maintenance cycle so maybe that's where you're sabotaging yourself. Don't give up....from a fellow "17 day dieter" :o)
