Fat Talk

I feel grose. I feel the furthest away from sexy a woman can feel. I feel fat. I feel huge. I feel too exhausted to do anything about it. I feel like I am in a "rut" and I cannot get out. Every year at Christmas (more so than New Years for some reason), I promise myself that next year I will feel fabulous in a nice (slinky?) holiday dress. I have never been "skinny". The smallest I have ever been was when I was pregnant with Riley (and  for about a yr after). I left the hospital in size 5 pants weighing 132 lbs.

 Lets just say in order to get back down to that weight I have 32 lbs to lose...40 would be ideal. What would it be like to just be able to shop for whatever kind of clothes you want to shop for? To not have to worry about anything "hugging your fat rolls" or "accentuating" them?

Goldfish

Dear Pepperidge Farm,
Hi there! I am writing from Nova Scotia, Canada in regards to the Goldfish crackers. I am putting in a formal request (BEGGING!!) for ALL of the different flavors (colors) that the US residents have! For example: From the "Goldfish Graham's Collection"; Chocolate, Vanilla, Cinnamon, Honey, S'mores Adventure. From the "Flavor Blasted Collection" ; Slammin' Sour Cream & Onion, Mix-up Adventures (pretzel fishies AND cheese), Xtra Cheesy Pizza Mix-Up Adventures, Racing Ranch. From the "Goldfish In Bags" collection ; Pretzel, Parmesan, Garden Cheddar, World Treasures, Baby Cheddar and COLORS!!!! COLORS c'mon!!! US residents even get the option of the little milk carton containers filled with fishies. How is this fair?Why are us Canadians getting Goldfish jipped? Please please please can we work something out? I can guarantee you sales....how about I will make a petition? PLEASE is there anything you can do? Is there anything I can do? Maybe you should hire me as part of the promotion team? I get pretty excited over kid friendly snacks.
Sincerely,
Mean Mama
(Yup, this was sent tonight :)
PLEASE leave a comment ON THIS BLOG if you are as excited as me...I left my blog addy with these guys too :)

Who Am I?

SAHM--> Stay At Home Mom
Any of those out there? Or am I the only 1? I feel like I am the only 1 these days. I am 6 months shy of 30. I went to school to be a licensed butt wiper (CCA) but the only bums I seem to be wiping these days are those under 5.

Quote of the Day

Dear Mom, I'm sorry for all the bad things I did when I was little. That said, can you please take back the "I hope your kids act just like you" curse, now?

I noticed this quote on FB today (Thanks Terra!) and I had to steal it!!
I remember the fighting I did with my siblings (especially my sister)....I look at Riley & Jack somedays and think "there is NO WAY we fought like that when we were kids"...then I realize I am right, I think we fought more!

Mean Mama Monday

This was supposed to be posted yesterday, I am not just mean, I am also forgetful ;)

MEAN MAMA ON VIDEO GAMES
Riley will be the first to tell you I am "mean" when it comes to video games. "But Mommmmm so and so in my class plays Call Of Duty!!!!" Well that's nice....BUT the only one playing COD in this house is Daddy...after YOU are in bed ;) Do parents not notice the ratings on the game?? They are there for a reason! 7 yr olds (or even 8,9, 10 ,11, 12 yr olds in my opinion) do not need to play a game in which you blow someones head off...curse a few times and then head off to the next unsuspecting victim! I HATE when I hear "Ohhhh it's just a game". It seems odd to me that instead of being penalized for killing someone you get points. That's a great thing to teach our children.
Dr. Phil says "According the American Psychological Association, violent video games can increase children's aggression. Dr. Phil explains, "The number one negative effect is they tend to inappropriately resolve anxiety by externalizing it. So when kids have anxiety, which they do, instead of soothing themselves, calming themselves, talking about it, expressing it to someone, or even expressing it emotionally by crying, they tend to externalize it. They can attack something, they can kick a wall, they can be mean to a dog or a pet." Additionally, there's an increased frequency of violent responses from children who play these kinds of video games.
I TRULY believe that!! My boy doesn't need to see the domestic violence...the blood flying everywhere...body parts flying through the sky...etc nor does he need to hear the language in the "mature games".  He is 7...almost 8, we will OCCASIONALLY allow him to play a rated E for everyone 10+  game but that is as lenient as we get. Mean or what????

PCD--> Post Christmas Depression

I am suffering from a self diagnosed (and maybe "mean Mama invented) case of  "post Christmas depression".  I wonder if there is such a thing? It always hits me after New Years, when it's time to "get back to reality." Does anyone else feel like this? I mean you can suffer from post partum depression after you have a baby (I suffered SEVERLY after Jack and will blog about that on a later date!), it would only make sense that there really is "post Christmas depression....right?? (just nod & smile...thanks...)

1 Mean Ham

So we had our annual family New Year's ham at Gram's. It was amazing and I just have to share the recipe for the "gravy".

1/2 Cup Apricot Jam
1/2 Cup Honey
1 Tablespoon Cornstarch
1/4 Teaspoon Cloves
1-2 Tablespoons Lemon Juice

Add to a pot....bring to boil...serve over ham...on the side of the ham....over your ham and veggies....heck, eat it right from the pot. It's AWESOME!!!

Happy New Year!

Well, another year has come and gone. It was a pretty lame New Year's Eve around here, I am ashamed to admit it but I was asleep before midnight! My sister and her hubby came bearing tons of food. We brought out the board games, cooked up some deep fryed appetizers (every kind you can imagine!), had a couple glasses of wine....and went to bed.
At 11 pm I started laundry, cleaned the kitchen...even picked up a few toys from the boy's room. Prince charming and my brother-in-law (who I will refer to as "Uncle Dude") played the new COD on the Xbox, my sister (Tauntie) fell asleep with her soggy book in hand (the night before she did the same thing...except she was in the tub) so Mama headed off to bed. Oh well, at least today I am feeling pretty good! Riley is off to his cousin's house...Jack is quietly watching a movie and Parker is having his morning nap. I think Mama bear might just try and grab a quick nap. Then it is off to Grandmother's house we go for our traditional New Year's supper! Hope eveyone has a great 2011!
